Don&#8217;t get me wrong, the golden circle tour is still covers very nice places to see but it feels more like a very funny and cool school excursion\u00a0with lots of your (adult) eve buddies :-). This year the golden circle tour was even shorter due to the Eve Monument ceremony, but I managed to get a few pictures here as well.<\/p>\n<p>Renting a car and doing your own trip has lots of advantages over the bus trip: You can have a break where ever you want, decide when you want to make a coffee break and you don&#8217;t have to take care about the usually very tight bus schedule. The only downside of our trip: It was a very long trip, time and distance wise.<\/p>\n<p>So where did we go? I had about 4 major way points planned in advance which I wanted to see:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"clearfix\">\n<li style=\"clear: both;\"><strong><strong><strong><a style=\"font-weight: normal;\" href=\"http:\/\/e.dotlan.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/DSCF3677.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-1458 alignright lightbox\" alt=\"DSCF3677\" src=\"http:\/\/e.dotlan.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/DSCF3677-150x150.jpg\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/strong><\/strong>Seljalandsfoss<\/strong>: That&#8217;s the waterfall where you can walk behind. Pretty impressive if you&#8217;ve the right waterproofed clothes with you.<\/li>\n<li style=\"clear: both;\"><strong><a style=\"font-weight: normal;\" href=\"http:\/\/e.dotlan.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/DSCF3728.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-1465 alignright lightbox\" alt=\"DSCF3728\" src=\"http:\/\/e.dotlan.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/DSCF3728-150x150.jpg\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>Black Back around Vik\/Reynishverfisvegur<\/strong>: This black beach (based on basalt\/volcanic sand) is very impressive with it&#8217;s massive basalt rocks. I took a couple long exposure shots, got my shoes, socks, trousers and tripod soaked with salt water, but was was damn worth it.<\/li>\n<li style=\"clear: both;\"><strong><a style=\"font-weight: normal;\" href=\"http:\/\/e.dotlan.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/DSCF3771.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-1471 alignright lightbox\" alt=\"DSCF3771\" src=\"http:\/\/e.dotlan.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/DSCF3771-150x150.jpg\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>Svartifoss\/Skaftafell<\/strong>: This (yet another) waterfall needs a 2 km hike up the hills. If you&#8217;ve good weather conditions it&#8217;s well worth a trip and getting out of your car after a couple hours drive will be refreshing. The waterfall itself in this basalt canyon is impressive as well.<\/li>\n<li style=\"clear: both;\"><strong><a style=\"font-weight: normal;\" href=\"http:\/\/e.dotlan.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/DSCF3808.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-1473 alignright lightbox\" alt=\"DSCF3808\" src=\"http:\/\/e.dotlan.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/DSCF3808-150x150.jpg\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>J\u00f6kuls\u00e1rl\u00f3n<\/strong>: This is the glacier lagoon where all the ice rocks that broke of the glacier\u00a0try to travel towards the ocean.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It&#8217;s a 400 km ride but you can&#8217;t compare this distance with a highway in Germany where you&#8217;ve no speed limits. So take your time, look left and right, make a few unplanned stops here and there to get in touch with this wild and incredible nature.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to Marco, Georg, Brad, Zach and David who made this trip a very enjoyable, laughable and interesting trip!
