Custos Morum was originally a Gallentean social-club, founded upon the teachings of an eccentric archaeologist called Hostage. However, the unexpected attraction of Capsuleers as the primary clientele not only made him very rich, it also gave him some truly inexplicable ideas, such as flooding the orbital space-station with bubble-bath. Not long after the ensuing legal action, his creation evolved into a space-based Alliance recognised by the DED.

Today, the members of Custos Morum work together for a prosperous future, using the strong inter-connecting relationships and secretive diplomatic deals that made the original social-club so successful. Human values such as honesty, politeness, and honour, are naturally upheld to a higher standard than in other organisations, which has done well in attracting more like-minded Capsuleers. And even after the unexpected consumption of Hostage by a giant Slog, the Alliance continues to fulfil his aims of creating a friendlier community.
