Division 6 is a force that is devoted to information gathering (known in the context as "intelligence") for purposes of alliance security and defense.
Means of information gathering is achieved by espionage, cooperation with other parties with similar interests and activities, and evaluation of public sources.

Division 6 provides the following services to the alliance.

* provide analysis in areas relevant to alliance security;
* give early warning of impending crises;
* serve alliance and coalition crisis management by helping to discern the intentions of current or potential opponents;
* inform alliance defense planning and navy operations;
* protect secrets, both of their own sources and activities, and those of other alliance corporations; and
* may act covertly to influence the outcome of events in favor of alliance interests.

Division 6 is also involved in defensive activities such as counter-espionage.
