If you are not in a corporation, you will be enlisted in a NPC corporation which taxes 11.0% on amounts above 100.000 ISK without any return at all. So basicly the game forces you to seek a player corporation or you'll be penalized.

This corporation is designed for one purpose only. Giving players a low tax rate while they seek for a more 'permanent' sollution or don't wish to be involved in any player corporation. Other than that it serves no purpose. You are welcome to leave whenever you found other opportunities, we completely understand.
