Description
Nanotech Heavy Industries is a collaborative corporation focused primarily on industry. We are founded on the ideals of member equality, proactive community, and individual liberty.
These are high-minded, highly abstract concepts; so what exactly do they mean?
1.) Member Equality
By far the most straight forward. Members, by their very presence, are on relatively equal footing with other members. We have a CEO, Officers, and structure like any community, but junior members are not expected to tolerate coercion, silencing, or abuse. All members have the same claim to civility, the fruits of their labor, and to enjoy the game.
2.) Proactive Community
Members of the community are expected to display initiative and produce solutions. All input is welcome, and nobody is punished for being proactive or helpful.
3.) Individual Liberty
Members are free to associate, speak, and simply enjoy the game. Many of us already have jobs, and are not eager to work a second job in a video game. Criticism, concerns, ideas, opinions, and solutions are welcome from even the newest member, and members are free to pursue their interests.
Now that we know all of that, what does it actually mean? How do I know those are true?
It is not enough to say that you employ equality, community, and liberty to have those things. Nor do you ever get to stop moving towards them. Simply put, these are motives and not actions. It is our motive to encourage critical thinking and participation, but we cannot will these things so. It requires the labor of both the Officers, and the Members to ensure that they are pursued and maintained.
But most importantly, we are here to have fun. This is a game, but that does not mean that we are keen on having fun at another's expense. In all of our endeavors, the primary motive must be to promote the enjoyment of all in question, even our enemies. (But that doesn't mean we won't give them a run for their money!)
