He commissioned the corporation's first fortress-class holdings, and established the discipline of vetting every new asset for its ability to endure disruption rather than impress. He is remembered as colder than Thessaly, less inclined to explain himself even to family.

One story about Arethuan survives despite the family's aversion to storytelling. During a severe market contraction, when several allied ventures collapsed within the same cycle, he made no public statement and called no emergency council. He simply redistributed the family's exposed capital overnight, absorbed the losses that could not be avoided, and continued operations the next day as though nothing had occurred. Asked decades later why he never explained the maneuver to the partners it had quietly protected, he is reported to have said only that explanations were for structures that needed to be believed in. His did not.

By the time the obligation passed to Draxen and, in her own quieter capacity, to Octaviya, the Kane holdings were no longer a project in progress. They were infrastructure \u2014 tested, distributed, and largely self-sustaining. Neither sibling was asked to build what Thessaly and Arethuan had built. They were asked only to ensure it did not weaken under their watch, and to pass it forward, undisturbed, to whoever came next.
