The Dragoons are the oldest cavalry corps to ever serve in the Canadian forces, dating back to 1759. They were among the first to take it to the Americans during the War of 1812. During WWI they participated in one of the last cavalry charges ever. Their horses were cut down by machine guns, but after 90 minutes and 95 Dragoons dead, they gutted it out the old-fashioned way -- hand-to-hand combat.
