u'Waypoint Transit Collective

“Everywhere worth going begins with a waypoint.”

The first thing the Waypoint Transit Collective ever moved was not cargo.

It was a family.

In YC 108, at the height of a minor shipping crisis along the Federation’s outer trade routes, three independent haulers answered a distress call from a stranded passenger liner. The liner’s jump drive had failed two systems from its intended destination, leaving nearly eight hundred civilians aboard with dwindling life-support reserves.

The three haulers were not supposed to work together. One was a bulk freighter. One was a courier vessel. The third was little more than a modified ore hauler with a questionable warp core.

They did anyway.

For thirty-six hours, the three ships ferried passengers in groups between safe celestial bodies, establishing temporary navigation points and improvised docking corridors until a Federation rescue vessel arrived.

The operation was later described by a Federation transport official as “an astonishingly reckless demonstration of civilian cooperation.”

The haulers\' crews called it something else.

They called it the Waypoint Run.

Within five years, that phrase had become the name of a corporation.'
